Personally, I do really feel like Rogue One: A Star Wars Story is already proving itself to be an influential movie. Or at least has the potential of becoming an influential movie. But to be fair, you will only know that for sure 5-10 years into the future. Avengers is 5 years old already, and we already know for certain that's a very influential movie. Heck, it most likely helped movies like Rogue One to get made.
But okay, so what are my arguments for this personally? Well, Rogue One was a box office success, which is a big contributing factor to what I'm about to say. Because first of all, it shows studios we want more Star Wars spin-off movies. This will lead to them doing all kinds of spin-off stories we could have only imagined in our wildest dreams before.
*SPOILER ALERT*
Second, it shows studios that we are fine with a movie ending with all the main characters dying.
*SPOILER ENDS*
Third, it shows studios we don't need them to cram in a pointless romance. And fourth, something less this movie and more both this movie AND Force Awakens, they show studios we want to see more practical effects. Rogue One even did a lot of the starships as actual models while they fly around in space, which I personally think is really amazing.
A potential fifth one is that it may revive spin-off movies as a concept. Even Star Wars did spin-offs in the past with it's two ewok-movies... they obviously failed though, of course.
People worry there is a downfall with movies over at Hollywood nowadays. And it seems like they are only feeling that way because movies are made in a different way nowadays, not realizing it's BOTH for the worse AND for the better. Like, sure, Avengers influenced a lot of failed shared universes like with Batman v Superman and more recently with The Mummy. But then we also get stuff like the new Kaiju cinematic universe and Star Wars getting it's own fully fledged out cinematic universe as well. So, I don't really think personally it's all bad.
But hey, it all depends on our opinions I suppose? To some extent, at least. I know people feel bitter the old expanded universe of Star Wars is taken out of the canon, such as Kyle Katarn helping the rebels out to obtain the plans for the Death Star. But I also understand why they had to remove a lot of it, since there was just SO much of it and some of it even contradicted one another. Everything's relative, you know?
But either way, what's your own opinion? Agree or disagree that Rogue One is or has the potential to be an influential movie?

You're not an artist if using AI generated images
Hey, long time no see. But it's about damn time I speak up. All artists and supporters of artists need to keep speaking up. AI generated images is not "art". Stop consider it art, stop calling it "AI art". Art is when something is created by us, not generated through an algorithm. By comparison, even your own created character in a character creator is art, because YOU created it. But with AI generated images, you just randomize things based on what you type in, and the generator uses already existing imagery to conjure up an approximation. Now, using AI image generators for inspiration or just for fun is great. I think in theory, it's a cool neat thing to use for whatever purpose you might see fit. However, the moment you call it art, and you consider yourself an ARTIST for using the AI image generator? THAT is when we are going to have a problem. You are not an artist if you don't put your own personal touch into something. Your own effort, talent, and creativity must have been
General update 2022/11/28
Are there still people around here? I haven't managed to work on a dedicated comic project for years now. I seem to just start projects I don't finish or even fully commit to. Like the "original universe comics" especially, I haven't done in two years now, and it's a dead project. That's all about to change though. I am working on something big. A fantasy adventure comic. It's going to focus on just a group of characters... a DnD-esque team, if you will. It is a huge, HUGE passion project of mine (despite the fact that it takes me forever to make it XP). I do not wish to reveal too much about it just yet, but... safe to say, it's a project I have a lot of love and passion for, and it's definitely NOT a project I will EVER abandon as long as I can help it. I am drawing it through MS Paint, doing my pixel art style. But this time, I will take full advantage of it. I am going to make it look and feel like an old-school RPG from the 80s or early 90s, combining it looking and feeling
I was accused of being a white supremacist
On the r/comics subreddit, someone made a comic showing a white dude criticising the new Ariel being black, while having a shelf full of movies with examples of whitewashing in them. I commented with this: "What a weird strawman. As far as I am concerned, I hate pointless raceswapping regardless of if it's whitewashing or blackwashing. What Disney is doing is fan baiting. They don't do this because they actually care." Then suddenly, I was permanently banned. I sent this comment in response to that: "Why did you ban me? :( I just pointed out my opinion and stating that the comic is strawmanning people having problems with raceswapping Ariel. Even if you think I broke a rule, isn't a PERMANENT ban a little bit extreme for ONE comment?" They said: "Racism is a permanent ban" I then said: "But I literally said I'm not a racist, and I pointed out the racism OF race-swapping?" As to which they responded with this: "No, you are a racist and your white supremacist nonsense isn't
I want to chat about X-Men comics with anyone
As I keep expanding my collection of X-Men comics, I would really like to find people to discuss X-Men comics and X-Men media in general such as the movies and shows and games. Including my Wolverine comics, these are all the comics I have so far: Wolverine Origin 1-2, Weapon X, X-Men: Uncanny Origin (AKA X-Men: Season One), Wolverine: Season One, Dark Phoenix Saga, Days of Future Past, God Loves Man Kills, Wolverine by Claremont and Miller, Mutant Massacre, Age of Apocalypse, and the first two volumes of Savage Wolverine. Thus far, the comics I have yet to get and plan to purchase in the near future are X-Men: Inferno and X-Tinction Agenda. But there's always room for more comics for me to consider purchasing. So yeah, anyone at all who's interested in just chatting about X-Men stuff with me, please don't hesitate to leave a comment on this journal, or send me a chat message through my profile. :)

a lot of people say that the Rebel Alliance being portrayed as more morally grey was a great twist on the usual black-and-white outlook, but (and maybe this is just me) i feel like that kind of twist is far more cliche'd than the thing they're subverting ever was. but aside from that, i loved the movie (especially Vader in full badass mode)
